Our Services

Music Publishing

Jaalolu is founded to help empower African musicians who for many years hardly benefit from their creations. Most of the artists’ only have one income stream which is from live performances. At Jaalolu, we are able to publish their recordings to over 200 digital platforms including Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Boomplay, etc. By publishing their works, we ensure they are protected from any misuse or copyright infringement. Starting with The Gambia, our unique catalogue features works from artists such as the late Tatadindin Jobarteh dubbed (Jimi Hendrix of the Kora), the King of Kora Jaliba Kuyateh, Jah Cause Abuke Chabu (Manjago artist from The Gambia), Big Carlos (Creole and Portuguese Afro-Pop singer from Guinea Bissau), EMO.K (Sierra Leonean Afro-Pop singer based in The Gambia) and Halifa (Gambian Afrobeats artist based in Scotland). We understand this is new to many African artists and the costs involved always discourages them from engaging with music publishers. However, to ensure our clients make the most of our services, we offer a bespoke service to every client depending on their needs. Our aim is to make the process as smooth as possible, ironing out any barriers stopping African creatives from publishing their music.

Rights Management

At Jaalolu, we care deeply about the creative freedom of our clients. Our clients always retain 100% ownership of their copyright. By assigning rights to Jaalolu, our rights management service protects, monitor and monetise catalogues on behalf of our clients from any improper use and or infringement ensuring everybody pays for the fair use of their works. With the digital age, we are now able to monetise use of the works on major social media, audio and video platforms.

As part of our rights management, we can also create, manage and monetise YouTube channels on behalf of our artists. The channel and its content will always remain the property of the rights owner.

Monetisation

Historically musicians in Africa make very little from their music especially traditional musicians. However, with the digital advancements of the music industry, new revenue streams have been created and the new wave of musicians are gradually figuring out how to make it work for them. At Jaalolu, we are aware and standing together with the ones who cannot navigate the complexities of technology and doing all the hard work for our clients whilst they focus on being creative and doing what they do best (making great music). With multiple revenue streams in the music business, Jaalolu will always exercise its fiduciary duty in our clients best interest. Some of the revenue streams we will explore in our artists interests include but not limited to YouTube Content ID, Performance Royalties, Neighbouring Rights, Mechanical Rights, Digital Royalties.
