Hussain Dada is a Gambian rapper, songwriter and recording artist known for his fearless delivery, energetic performances and ability to turn everyday Gambian experiences into music.
Emerging onto the scene in 2016, he has developed a distinctive sound, blending hip-hop, Afrobeats and contemporary African influences while remaining strongly connected to the language, humour and realities of Gambian life.
From social commentary and politics to love, ambition, street culture and industry competition, Hussain has built a catalogue defined by personality and versatility. Projects including BadBoy Dada, Tha Chosen One, International Localo and Louder have established him as a consistent voice within contemporary Gambian music.
His music has also taken him beyond The Gambia, with performances internationally, while collaborations such as “Big Drip” featuring Jizzle demonstrate his ability to move comfortably between rap, Afrobeats and Amapiano-influenced sounds.
At the heart of Hussain Dada’s artistry is an artist unafraid to speak his mind, whether addressing society, celebrating success, confronting criticism or simply making music for people to enjoy.
Hussain has been credited as the first artist to sell out the QCity music venue in The Gambia.
SANJI JELU presents Hussain Dada across the different sides of his artistry. Across 12 tracks, the project moves between politics and social commentary, love, hustle, celebration, and unapologetic industry talk, capturing both the artist and the world around him.
Rather than being confined to one subject or sound, the album reflects the contradictions of everyday life: ambition and frustration, love and conflict, enjoyment and responsibility.
For Hussain, SANJI JELU represents another chapter in an independent career built through persistence, personality, and a willingness to say what others may hesitate to say.
“Ntol Kattaa Leh” brings Hussain Dada together with Big Banga for an energetic Afrobeats party record centred around determination and refusing to be distracted by negativity.
The message is simple: “Regardless of what the haters plan, we are going”.
Driven by infectious rhythms and confident delivery, the track turns resilience into celebration music for moving forward, enjoying the moment, and refusing to allow outside noise to determine your direction.
“Avengers” brings Hussain Dada together with a collective of artists for a collaboration built around energy, lyrical presence, and the competitive spirit of Gambian music.
As its title suggests, the track brings different voices, styles, and personalities together on one record, giving each artist space to represent their individual sound while contributing to something bigger.
For Hussain Dada, Avengers also reflects the importance of collaboration in The Gambia’s music scene, bringing creatives together, showcasing different talents, and demonstrating what can happen when artists combine their strengths on one record.
Jaalolu pronounced “JA LO LU” is a Mandinka word meaning Musicians. We are one of the most culturally significant music publishing companies representing creatives in The Gambia. Until recently, being a musician in The Gambia is frowned upon as a viable career path for many people.
